Time to be strong

Mark Wahlberg, Michelle Monaghan and J.K. Simmons starred in a movie based upon the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing and subsequent manhunt. CBS Films sought a digital agency to respectfully address the still sensitive story and educate audiences on the timeline of events.

In response, two sites were created by Tommy: an on-brand EPK site and an interactive feature site. With video, imagery and custom audio, visitors could browse the fully responsive site and immerse themselves in the key events, whilst raising questions that could only be answered by seeing the movie in theaters.

The question

How to respectfully promote the story of a tragic real life event?

The answer

By removing the Hollywood glitz and telling it straight.

It was important that the site both reminded visitors of the tragedy while showing that there was a great deal to learn.
